How to edit DVD video?

My father taped my graduation with his miniDVD video camera, but it takes up 3 discs and has some parts that need editing (e.g. someone walking in front of the camera). We want to process it into one normal DVD that we can give to friends and family.

As some say, miniDVD output were not meant for edit. But if you have to, and you are very particular on video quality, there are options… joining of movie clips is a part of video editing
- get hold of really good video converters – freeware may do the job but might not meet your expectation…and the really good ones aren’t cheap. Check-out Handbrake, Super, Streamclip…then AVS
- check out video editing apps which support DVD.vob video files or converted files (.vob are in DVD compliant mpeg2) – free video editors don’t support .vob. Try your Roxio

- renaming dvd.vob video files to dvd.mpg may do the trick at times
- OR if you have only these 3 discs to edit, try 3rd party production service… e.g. finalvideoproduction, etc. rather than spend on software you may not need in the future.
