Video Editing Software Canon Hg10
For video editing – do I need more memory or a new video card?
I have a Dell Dimension 3000 – something like 4 years old. I have 512 RAM and the video card is integrated into the motherboard – Intel 82865G graphics controller. (I know I can’t actually upgrade the video card here…other than video editing, this computer works fine and does not have any issues with any other applications (I’m not a gamer). When I download video onto the PC, the video clips are choppy in the editing software and I cannot watch any clips from my Canon HG10 without it being very choppy. My true question is – will upgrading to 1G RAM correct this problem, or do I need to upgrade my PC? I can easily transfer this PC to the wife and kids, so it’s not a waste…
Going Mac is definitely an option. You like the iMac okay? I can’t afford the PRO…
CPU = Intel Celeron 2.4Ghz
I can upgrade RAM to 1G. Would that fix?

I would upgrade. But not upgrade to another PC. Switch to Mac. Much much much better for video.
