Video Editing Software Canon Vixia

What Kind of software and laptop I get for my Canon Vixia, Windows 7 or X Snow Leopard?
So far I’m been down to Sony Vaio and Macbook Pro since these 2 tigers are more of video editing still don’t know what kind of specs I should be looking for and why?
So if you’re out there with the experience please toss me an answer
Plus thank you for your advice in advance

Oh yes, it’s a Canon Vixia HF S100, so I’ll be using 32 gb SDHC Memory Card.

I agree with Glenn… but have a bit more input to help since you are buying the computer… you have an opportunity.
You did not tell us which Canon Vixia.
If the HV40 + MacBook Pro, you will also need a cheap 4-pin to 9-pin firewire cable. iMovie ’09 is bundled with the operating system and computer. When the camcorder is connected with the firewire cable to the Mac – and the camcorder is in Playback mode, iMovie can import the HDV format video (and DV – or DV widescreen, if you recorded in those modes, but don’t mix modes on a single miniDV tape).
If the HF, HF S series or HG series flash memory or hard disc drive camcorders, iMovie ’08 or newer (’09 is in current Macs) can deal with the AVCHD video directly. Copy the files over USB, then the video editing app will decompress the video when that video is pulled in to the application.
FinalCut (Express or Pro) is a lot more fun and has WAY more capabilities than iMovie, and can be purchased at a discount when purchased at the same time as the computer (from Apple).
I am not aware that any version of MovieMaker can deal with HDV or AVCHD compressed video. This means you must purchase a video editing application… Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere are the usual suspects. There are many others.
Whichever computer you end up with, be sure it has at least 4 gig RAM. More if you can afford it – assuming the computer can actually use it.
It would be best to have the video files stored on an external drive so there is limited contention with the operating system dealing with virtual memory on the start-up drive.
