What computer do I need for editing films ?

I want to edit films, adding music and special effects using editing software. I have an Hitachi mini DVD digital movie camara DZ-GX3100A
I would like to make sure that a computer like this is OK for that :
Intel Pent 2.66Ghz
Mother board Asus PVDC-x
HD 160 GB 7200
memory 1024 MB DDR 400
Video Geforce 256 Mb Fx 5500
DVD and DVD burner

It should be OK, just not lightning fast so be patient.

Video is very memory hungry so if you can, upgrade the following:

Pentium 4 processor, not 2.
GeForce card up to 512 or higher.

Everything else looks OK unless you’re thinking of taking Spielberg on.
