Can I convert video file types from mp4 so I can use them in Windows Movie Maker?

I bought a Fuji Film Z20 FinePix Digital Camera a few weeks ago which can also take movies (mp4′s). I was thinking I would be able to put the movies on my computer, but everything I try and use it with (Like Windows movie maker) says it doesn’t support that type of file. The only way I can see the movies is through the software that the camera came with, but it only lets me view them, and I was hoping on editing them also. Does anyone know how I can either change the file type, convert it, or anything else? Thanks!
