Why is Sony Vegas movie editing software crashing all the time?

I downloaded the trial version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9, to use with video from my Sony camcorder. But every time I try to drag a video file into the timeline in Vegas an error message pops up and the whole thing crashes.

sony vegas is always buggy to me, so I switched to womble editor. Hope someone will help you.
