Samsung Tocco Ultra Joins Dedicated 3G Network – Tocco Ultra Edition

Samsung’s first ever device to feature both a full colour touch screen alongside a slide out 4 x 3 keypad has now been released on the only dedicated 3G network in the UK – 3 Mobile.

After being originally launched on O2 pay monthly deals back in January of this year the Samsung Tocco Ultra has found its way onto Orange, Vodafone and T-Mobile networks, but this latest network launch is one of the most exciting as 3 Mobile offer the best value for money for the number of inclusive free minutes and text included in their tariffs.

The Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition is the manufacturers flagship mobile phone for 2009 and is available in both a red and blue colour scheme, the colours relate only to the accents on the exterior and the slide out keypad and not the entire casing colour which in both instances is a brushed metal effect grey.

This new Smartphone from Samsung promises great quality pictures. With  an inbuilt 8 mega pixel camera, which helps in getting a great resolution of the video shots, as well as astounding clarity and quality in the videos shot, this sure can make shooting, and being shot, all the more fun. And the AMOLED ‘Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diodes’ touch screen has nothing less than 16 million pixels, offering a pellucid view of the videos shot, and that too with a better contrast, deeper blacks and high definition.

The Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition has the ability to shoot 30 frames a second enhances the quality of the video, with almost all movements getting captured without any blur, even those of fast moving objects. Digital zooming allows magnifying and focusing only on the parts we require, while rejecting the ones we don’t need. The camera also comes with an inbuilt LED flash, so gone are the days when one required a high power light to get the near-lifelike photo .The same feat can be achieved by simply using the inbuilt flash. The camera also supports auto focus, so that the user may take great snaps, without being a pro, as the camera does the essential but tough task of focusing.

A new feature that has been introduced by this phone is face detection. It is a technology that determines the location and size of a human face in the photo being taken, and ignores the background objects like rivers, trees etc. This excellent technology had so far been limited chiefly to digital cameras. Samsung also improves its smile detection in this phone.

Video editing software is also available, which will minimize the use of computer for editing purpose. The phone being powered with 3G provides users the option of making video calls to other users having compatible 3G phones.

The Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition also possesses integrated GPS technique. It provides A-GPS function, along with camera geo-tagging for landmark and friends, and route 66 navigation. This ensures that you are not left circling around that new road or town you just felt like discovering a few minutes back, but are unable to find your way back now. Geo tagging allows users to capture the time, date and location of the shot beneath the captured photo to revive the sweet memories whenever they view the photo again.

But, all these features would be meaningless, if the cell didn’t provide enough memory to preserve all these, especially since the resolution is higher, and requires more memory space. This problem too is resolved, by the phone having 80 MB internal memory, and 16 GB expandable memory. Thus in spite of storing a multitude of photos, the speed and memory space will be affected only marginally.

All in all, a great phone to invest for, if you are looking for some great quality videos, with some enviable extra features like document viewer and good internet facilities thrown in. This handset is packaged in a thin and terrific 12.7mm attractive shell and is available from free on all UK networks.

The Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition is now available on O2, Orange, T-Mobile, Vodafone and 3 Mobile plus as a Pay As You Go and SIM Free handset, the only remaining UK network to  offer the Tocco Ultra is Virgin Mobile.
