Whilst most people creating websites, for the purposes of marketing, or promoting a product know, it is important to present a page or site that inspires confidence in the sense that the quality of the product or service is at a high level. This is often added to by the presentation of a site being at the highest level possible.

Fortunately for the beginner, creating websites from home, or businesses on a tight budget, the presentation of videos online can be done in a relatively cheap format, given the software and programming options available for both Mac and PC computers. In this case, I am referring to a software package made by Techsmith called Camtasia. This particular software package may at first seem quite complicated, and one that requires a long learning curve, but fortunately, as with most things, with clear instructions, and lessons, the learning curve can be dramatically reduced. This is the software that I have been using for quite some time, mainly because it is great for beginner and complex projects.

Having said all of that, you may well be wondering what you could do with your videos to enhance the results? Great question. I hope to help explain this below. Essentially, a video is about transferring information in a visual way, and it really is true, that a picture can tell a thousand words, as the saying goes. Examples are included below of things you can do to enhance your videos.

• You can have a picture in the picture, such as your talking head, amongst a photo or text relaying a story
• You could have fancy graphic text at the beginning to look like a professional movie
• You could have a clear script for your video layout to ensure a professional flow of events (highly recommended)
• You can also have transitions, or fades, mixed in with great audio

Naturally, as you can imagine, I could go on and on but I also understand you may not be wanting to enroll in a full video course that costs thousands or takes five years of study. The simple fact is that just by having a well laid out script, or plan will improve the flow of your video. It does not matter if the video is a minute or two, or a full length documentary, as an example. Either way, with a well written script, you will capture your audience. I have found that even non-professional people can tell if something is well done or not. Go the extra mile, as your sales will reflect the commitment and effort at this point. Also, make the transitions of the video match the sound track as closely as possible. This is important too.

Whilst I have in the past just stormed straight into the creation process of my videos, I found the scripted ones always have worked better, as well as using a story board. This is a kind of script where I have placed information points in the order I wanted them, and sometimes used still photos, as part of the narrated audio to express points. This an be done to highlight specific points, as an example. Essentially, it is about some trial and error, but plan as much as you can to ensure you really do get the result that you want, and looks professional.
